Position Summary
The Analyst, Business Development (BD) will play a critical role in supporting CleanCapital’s M&A Origination and deal pipeline processes. This position manages early-stage deal flow, coordinates NDA execution and intake of initial materials with external parties, maintains CRM and data systems, works cross-group to track advancement of deals through the deal cycle for the broader team, conducts research for and helps to run outreach campaigns, tracks and regularly reports out campaign results, assists in managing conference outreach and coordinates meetings with external parties, occasionally attends conferences, and aides in reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, has incredible attention to detail, is responsive and proactively communicative, resourceful, can meet deadlines, and is eager to lay the foundation to develop into an outward-facing BD professional within a fast-paced, mission-driven renewable energy investment platform. In addition, we are looking for an AI-curious, forward thinking candidate who actively integrates AI tools into their daily professional routine.

Core Responsibilities
- Create New Opportunities and own pipeline oversight and progression across the origination lifecycle, ensuring Salesforce and Sharepoint reflect accurate, current, and actionable deal information - including the creation and ongoing maintenance of Opportunities, Accounts, Contacts, and related correspondence.
- Support the project intake process; act as an early strategic interface with Sellers, managing initial follow-up, information intake, and responsiveness during the earliest stages of deal evaluation.
- Own the end‑to‑end NDA process, balancing external responsiveness with internal coordination to enable timely deal evaluation. Ensure NDAs and deal-related documents are accurately stored, tracked, and linked to active opportunities.
- Aggregate and assess inbound lead flow, applying initial judgment to organize and present leads for weekly Origination team assignment.
- Maintain a real‑time, decision‑ready pipeline, reflecting updates from Origination, Pipeline, and Deal discussions as well as ongoing deal‑related communications.
- Oversee opportunities through pre‑screening and screening, ensuring decision‑makers have complete, accurate, and current information as deals evolve.
- With the support of the VP, Business Development - lead targeted origination campaigns and conference strategy through thoughtful research on companies, contacts, and market participants and help support strategic and creative targeting efforts.
- Coordinate campaign responses, conference meeting strategy and scheduling, enabling senior BD team members to maximize external engagement.
- Participate in Origination, Pipeline, and Deal forums, synthesizing discussions into clear notes, action items, and follow‑ups that support execution.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting on pipeline and business development metrics, as needed. Gain experience in pipeline analytics, and supporting data-driven decision-making across the BD team.
- Develop a deep understanding of middle-market renewable energy market trends, investment and deal structures through hands-on exposure to large quantities of live deals.
- Attend periodic conferences and shadow senior BD and other team members to learn CleanCapital’s origination strategy and investment approach, with a growth path toward increased external representation and origination responsibility. Responsible for post-conference recaps & meeting tracking.

Technical Skills and Experience
- Excellence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with CRMs such as Salesforce
- Able to manage and maintain data across various systems
- Proven AI literacy, including understanding AI strengths, limitations, and ethical considerations
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take ideas and run with them from concept to conclusion.
